AARON FOLEY

Aaron is the Principal of Halliwells Lawyers and works with clients throughout New Zealand, with a particular focus on Taranaki and Auckland. He brings a unique blend of legal, commercial and leadership experience, enabling him to provide practical advice that aligns legal outcomes with his clients’ broader business and personal objectives.

Prior to acquiring Halliwells, Aaron practised in litigation, property and commercial law and held leadership roles managing legal practices. Before entering the legal profession, he worked in commercial management, category management and project leadership for several large retail and wholesale organisations. This commercial background gives him a strong understanding of the challenges and opportunities facing business owners, investors, farmers and rural enterprises.

Aaron advises individuals, whanau, trusts, farmers and business owners across a broad range of matters, including property transactions, commercial arrangements, Maori land matters, business acquisitions, succession planning and asset protection. He is known for delivering pragmatic, solutions-focused advice and building long-term relationships with clients and their families.

Aaron has a particular interest in succession planning, agribusiness and governance. He enjoys helping families, farmers and business owners navigate ownership transitions, protect and grow assets, and develop structures that support long-term success across generations. Outside of legal practice, Aaron has held a number of governance and community leadership roles.
