About Our History
Halliwells was established in Hāwera in 1896 by Herbert Halliwell. The practice continues to operate with its main office in the historic building at 87 Regent Street, Hāwera which was completed in 1903. There have only been 15 partners in the firm’s nearly 130-year history. Two of the firm’s former partners have gone on join the independent bar as Kings Counsel and subsequently take up judicial roles including appointments to the Court of Appeal and Privy Council.
Halliwells also has a branch office (by appointment) in New Plymouth and offers mobile legal services across the Auckland area.
Although Halliwells is over 125 years old, the firm is a savvy and modern practice offering technical expertise with outstanding client service. The firm is headed by principal, Aaron Foley who is supported by former partners in the practice Ken Horner and Preston Bulfin along with senior associate Samantha Bills as well a dozen other experienced legal professionals.
At Halliwells, we have a team of experienced and dedicated individuals who are committed to providing expert legal advice, representation and personalised service to each and every client.
